The Klinkhamer Caddis

The Klinkhamer Caddis

Hook: #10-14 curved nymph or caddis pupae hook

Thread:6/0 Black, olive or grey

Wing: Deer hair tied in with tips pointing forward

Body: dubbed slf or rabbit mask in tan, grey or olive

Rib: leave a length of tag end of thread at hook bend, dub body forward to wing then wind tag end forward

Thorax: dub hares mask back from eye of hook to wing base in order to keep upright. Tie off.

This pattern catches fish - period. It is an alteration of the original Klinkhamer Special tied by Hans van Klinken from Denmark. He is known the world over for his flies. He has also visited my friend Bernard Stehelin's fishing camp, Wilderness Fishing Yukon, where I visited last year and has written for his site - so we have a tenuous connection there.
